The build detail that decides bottle tube packaging

The base of a tube carries the whole load. It needs specifying separately from the wall.

Bottle Tube Packaging are spiral-wound from kraft board into a rigid cylinder, then finished with metal, board or timber end caps.

What bottle tube packaging have to cope with

Bottle Tube Packaging hold a single bottle in a rigid cylinder, usually spirits or a premium gift. That is the starting point for the specification, because the base of a tube carries the whole load. It needs specifying separately from the wall.

In service they are used for spirits and premium beverage gifting where the tube is part of the presentation.

Where bottle tube packaging are actually used

Bottle Tube Packaging are specified for spirits and premium beverage gifting where the tube is part of the presentation. The base of a tube carries the whole load. It needs specifying separately from the wall.

    • Cosmetics and skincare
    • Tea and dry goods
    • Candles and gifting

    Presentation on the shelf

Shelf presence is decided at arm's length, not close up. Contrast, the front panel hierarchy and how the pack sits next to competitors matter more than a finish that only reads in the hand.

If bottle tube packaging will be faced on a shelf, tell us the facing orientation so the strongest panel is the one the customer sees.

    Holding the contents in place

Where a product needs to be held still, a fitted insert cut to its profile does more for damage rates than a heavier outer board. It usually costs less too, because you can drop a grade on the outer.

The substrate for bottle tube packaging

The options we would consider for this format are below; the base of a tube carries the whole load. It needs specifying separately from the wall.

    • Spiral-wound kraft board
    • White-lined kraft board
    • Recycled paperboard
    • Food-grade lined board

How bottle tube packaging fail, and what prevents it

The bottle drops through the tube base, because the base was specified as a cap rather than a load-bearing part.

The base of a tube carries the whole load. It needs specifying separately from the wall.

    Sizing bottle tube packaging

Internal diameter and height sized to the bottle including the closure.

Send the contents rather than a box size. The tube walls are specified and the base is left standard, when the base carries the entire bottle weight.

Holding bottle tube packaging before service

The bottle drops through the tube base, because the base was specified as a cap rather than a load-bearing part.

Paperboard also absorbs moisture from the air until it equalises with its surroundings. If stock sits more than about six weeks in unconditioned space, a moisture-resistant coating is worth its small premium.

    Finishing bottle tube packaging

A tube is a continuous printable surface with no panel breaks, which suits wraparound designs well.

The finishes below are quoted line by line. Each is an additional pass, so dropping one is a real saving rather than a rounding difference.

    • Gloss wrap
    • Foil stamping

    Checking it before you commit

A plain structural sample is the cheapest way to find a fit problem — far cheaper than finding it across a full run.

Sample costs are normally credited against the production order.

    From enquiry to delivery

Start with dimensions and quantity. If you already run something similar, a physical sample tells us more in a minute than a specification does in a page.

A dieline template follows, sized to your product. Prepress checks your artwork against it and issues a proof; nothing runs until you sign that off.

      Answers

Bottle Tube Packaging: service and food safety

Specification, minimums and lead times for bottle tube packaging.

Why do bottles fall through the base of a tube?

Because the base is specified as a closure rather than as a load-bearing part. It carries the whole filled weight of the bottle, and it needs grading separately from the tube wall.

      Are these food-contact compliant?

We specify food-contact compliant boards and inks where the pack touches food directly. Tell us whether contact is direct or through a liner for bottle tube packaging, because it changes which stocks are available to you.

How do you stop grease showing through?

A grease-resistant coating or a greaseproof liner. Untreated board will always strike through eventually with hot, oily food — that is a property of the material rather than a quality fault, and it is inexpensive to design out.

Will a heavier board reduce my damage rate?

Only if boxes are arriving crushed. If they arrive intact with damaged contents, the product is moving inside and a heavier outer changes nothing. A fitted insert solves that case, usually at lower cost.

Do you supply inserts with the outer?

Yes, and for bottle tube packaging we prefer to specify both together. A cavity that holds the contents still often lets us drop a grade on the outer, so the pair can cost less than an over-specified box alone.

What happens after I approve the quote?

We issue a dieline template sized to your product, prepress checks your artwork against it, and a proof comes back for sign-off. Nothing runs until you approve that proof, and paper tubes then take 3 to 5 business days.

Can you hold the specification for repeat orders?

Yes. Once a first run is approved we hold the board, structure, dimensions, print method and finishes against your account, so a reorder references the same specification exactly rather than being re-derived. The board and coating are held together, so a reorder cannot quietly arrive on a stock with different grease resistance.

Do you offer recycled or recyclable options?

Recycled grades are available across most of the substrates we run for paper tubes. Recycled content, kerbside recyclability and certified compostability are three different claims though, so tell us which one you intend to print.

What file format should I send artwork in?

A print-ready PDF or a vector file, with fonts outlined and any raster images at 300 dpi at final size. We supply the dieline to design onto, and prepress checks bleed, safe area and crease clearance before issuing a proof. The dieline we supply carries the crease positions, so keeping type clear of a crease is easier to solve at layout than at proof.

What is the minimum order for bottle tube packaging?

A flat 100 units on any format. Most paper tubes in this range are quoted from 100 units upward because unit cost falls sharply above that, but the minimum exists so you can validate a structure first.

How long do bottle tube packaging take to produce?

3 to 5 business days after artwork approval, plus freight. Paper tube runs with applied finishes can take longer because each finish is a separate pass, and we confirm a firm date in writing with the quote.

What do bottle tube packaging cost?

Prices start from $0.30 per piece for large-volume orders. For this format the biggest levers are quantity, print route, board grade and how many finishing passes are involved. We quote each element separately so you can see where the money is going. An insert often lowers the total rather than raising it, because holding the contents still lets us drop a grade on the outer.
