A candle is heavy for its size, fragile, and full of oils that migrate into board over months. All three shape the specification.
Fragrance oils migrate into uncoated board over time. On a candle that sells quickly nothing shows; on stock held in a warehouse for months a faint stain can appear on the inner face and occasionally through to the outside.
A coated or laminated inner face avoids it entirely and costs very little. It is the one specification detail specific to this category that buyers most often miss.
Jar diameter and vessel weight set what the pack has to be. Below roughly 10oz a folding carton with a snug fit is usually adequate. Above that, the weight starts to work against the base and a rigid box or a carton with a fitted insert becomes the sensible route.
Send the filled weight rather than the nominal size — a heavy glass vessel and a light one at the same volume are different packaging problems.
Candles are usually bought as gifts, so the pack has to present well, and they are usually glass, so it has to protect. Those requirements are compatible but they do compete for the same budget.
Our usual recommendation is to put the money into a fitted insert that holds the vessel and keep the outer relatively simple. A well-fitted candle in a plain rigid box reads better than a loose one in a decorated carton.

Specification
Jar diameter and vessel weight set the structure. Anything above about 10oz wants a rigid box or a carton with a fitted insert. Our guide to packaging board and film grades compares them on strength, print quality and cost.
Run length usually decides this. Digital wins on shorter quantities because there is no plate cost; beyond that, offset and flexo overtake it on price per unit.
Finishes are applied in the same production run. Each one adds a step, so we price them individually rather than bundling them into the base rate.
Most orders here come from home and candles, gifting and events, retail and grocery brands.

It can stain uncoated board over months in storage — a faint mark on the inner face, occasionally showing through. A coated or laminated inner face prevents it and costs very little.
Below roughly 10oz filled weight, a well-fitted carton is usually adequate. Above that the weight works against the base and a rigid box or a carton with a fitted insert is the safer route.
At the widest point including the lid, which is frequently wider than the jar. Send the filled weight too, since that decides the structure as much as the dimensions do.
Not a presentation box on its own — glass needs a protective outer. A fitted presentation box inside a plain corrugated mailer is the usual arrangement and costs less than one box trying to do both.
The insert, in most cases. A well-fitted candle in a simple rigid box reads better and travels better than a loose one in a decorated carton.
Yes. Multi-cavity inserts holding a candle with matches, a wick trimmer or a second vessel are common, and the cavity layout sets the outer dimensions.
Yes, with a coated inner face for the oil migration. Recycled fibre is slightly less stiff, so we may step up a caliper to hold the same rigidity under the weight.
A flat 100 units on any format, which suits a seasonal or limited-fragrance run well.
Keep one structure and vary a printed sleeve or a label per fragrance. Each variant then carries a small setup rather than a new die.
From $0.30 per piece at large volumes. Rigid construction and fitted inserts are the two things that move the figure most in this category.
