The build detail that decides bottle product inserts

Measure at the widest point and check the divider is tall enough to separate the bottles there.

Bottle Product Inserts are die-cut from board or routed from foam to hold each item in a fixed position, so nothing shifts between the packing bench and the customer.

What bottle product inserts have to cope with

Bottle Product Inserts hold bottles that must not touch each other or the box wall. That is the starting point for the specification, because measure at the widest point and check the divider is tall enough to separate the bottles there.

In service they are used for beverage, cosmetic and fragrance despatch where glass-on-glass contact is the main breakage cause.

Where bottle product inserts are actually used

Bottle Product Inserts are specified for beverage, cosmetic and fragrance despatch where glass-on-glass contact is the main breakage cause. Measure at the widest point and check the divider is tall enough to separate the bottles there.

    • Beverage, cosmetic and fragrance despatch where glass-on-glass contact is the main breakage cause
    • Fragile product protection
    • Multi-piece gift sets
    • Subscription box presentation

    Holding the contents in place

Where a product needs to be held still, a fitted insert cut to its profile does more for damage rates than a heavier outer board. It usually costs less too, because you can drop a grade on the outer.

    • Multi-cavity layout
    • Finger cut-outs for easy removal
    • Foam upgrade for fragile items
    • Printed instructions on the insert face

The substrate for bottle product inserts

Corrugated cell dividers, with height chosen to separate at the widest point rather than only at the base.

The options we would consider for this format are below; measure at the widest point and check the divider is tall enough to separate the bottles there.

    • E-flute corrugated
    • Chipboard
    • Moulded pulp
    • EVA foam
    • Polyurethane foam
    • Rigid board with fabric wrap

How bottle product inserts fail, and what prevents it

Bottles contact each other at the shoulder because the divider was sized to the base diameter.

Measure at the widest point and check the divider is tall enough to separate the bottles there.

    Sizing bottle product inserts

Cell dimensions set by the bottle at its widest point, which is often the shoulder rather than the base.

Send the contents rather than a box size. Bottle diameter is measured at the base, and most bottles are wider higher up.

    Finishing bottle product inserts

Unprinted. This is purely structural and sits invisible inside the outer.

Each finish below is a separate pass on the press or the finishing line, which is why they are quoted individually rather than bundled.

    • Unprinted kraft
    • Flood colour
    • Matte lamination
    • Fabric wrap

    Checking it before you commit

A plain structural sample is the cheapest way to find a fit problem — far cheaper than finding it across a full run.

Sample costs are normally credited against the production order.

    What we need from you

Start with dimensions and quantity. If you already run something similar, a physical sample tells us more in a minute than a specification does in a page.

A dieline template follows, sized to your product. Prepress checks your artwork against it and issues a proof; nothing runs until you sign that off.

      Answers

Ordering bottle product inserts: the usual questions

Specification, minimums and lead times for bottle product inserts.

How tall should bottle dividers be?

Tall enough to separate the bottles at their widest point, which is usually the shoulder rather than the base. A short divider lets bottles touch above it, which is where the breakages happen.

Will a heavier board reduce my damage rate?

Only if boxes are arriving crushed. If they arrive intact with damaged contents, the product is moving inside and a heavier outer changes nothing. A fitted insert solves that case, usually at lower cost.

Do you supply inserts with the outer?

Yes, and for bottle product inserts we prefer to specify both together. A cavity that holds the contents still often lets us drop a grade on the outer, so the pair can cost less than an over-specified box alone.

Which insert material should I choose?

Board is cheapest and suits light or regular shapes. Foam holds irregular and fragile items better and absorbs shock. Moulded pulp sits between them and is the more recyclable of the cushioning options. Send the item and we will recommend.

What happens after I approve the quote?

We issue a dieline template sized to your product, prepress checks your artwork against it, and a proof comes back for sign-off. Nothing runs until you approve that proof, and packaging inserts then take 3 to 5 business days.

Can you hold the specification for repeat orders?

Yes. Once a first run is approved we hold the board, structure, dimensions, print method and finishes against your account, so a reorder references the same specification exactly rather than being re-derived. It also means a reorder can be priced against a larger quantity without re-opening the specification.

Do you offer recycled or recyclable options?

Recycled grades are available across most of the substrates we run for packaging inserts. Recycled content, kerbside recyclability and certified compostability are three different claims though, so tell us which one you intend to print.

What file format should I send artwork in?

A print-ready PDF or a vector file, with fonts outlined and any raster images at 300 dpi at final size. We supply the dieline to design onto, and prepress checks bleed, safe area and crease clearance before issuing a proof. The dieline we supply carries the crease positions, so keeping type clear of a crease is easier to solve at layout than at proof.

What is the minimum order for bottle product inserts?

A flat 100 units on any format. Most packaging inserts in this range are quoted from 100 units upward because unit cost falls sharply above that, but the minimum exists so you can validate a structure first.

How long do bottle product inserts take to produce?

3 to 5 business days after artwork approval, plus freight. Packaging insert runs with applied finishes can take longer because each finish is a separate pass, and we confirm a firm date in writing with the quote.

What do bottle product inserts cost?

Prices start from $0.30 per piece for large-volume orders. For this format the biggest levers are quantity, print route, board grade and how many finishing passes are involved. We quote each element separately so you can see where the money is going. An insert often lowers the total rather than raising it, because holding the contents still lets us drop a grade on the outer.

Can I see a sample first?

Yes. We can send a plain unprinted sample so you can check the fit and structure, or a printed prototype for colour and finish. Sample costs are normally credited against the production order. On bottle product inserts the thing to check is whether the contents still sit tight once the pack is closed, because movement inside is what causes damage rather than the board grade.
