Velvet Bags hold jewellery and small valuables where the bag protects a surface as much as it presents. That is the starting point for the specification, because pile direction and softness matter for polished metal. A coarse velvet can leave fine marks on a soft finish.
In service they are used for jewellery retail and watch sales, where the pouch travels with the piece long after purchase.
Shelf presence is decided at arm's length, not close up. Contrast, the front panel hierarchy and how the pack sits next to competitors matter more than a finish that only reads in the hand.
If velvet bags will be faced on a shelf, tell us the facing orientation so the strongest panel is the one the customer sees.

A soft-pile velvet or suede-effect fabric with a double-drawstring closure, which stays shut where a single one does not.
The options we would consider for this format are below; pile direction and softness matter for polished metal. A coarse velvet can leave fine marks on a soft finish.
Debossing and foil both work on velvet; screen print does not sit well on pile. A woven or foiled mark is the reliable route.
Screen printing, Direct-to-garment printing, Embroidery, Heat transfer are all available for this format. Run length usually decides which is cheapest: digital removes the plate cost on short quantities, offset and flexo overtake it at volume.

The finishes below are quoted line by line. Each is an additional pass, so dropping one is a real saving rather than a rounding difference.
Drawstring pouches sized to the piece, commonly 3 × 4 in through 6 × 8 in.
Send the contents rather than a box size. Velvet is chosen for feel without checking that the pile is soft enough not to mark a polished surface.
Screen printing needs vector artwork with separated spot colours. Each additional colour adds a screen and a small setup cost.
Supply a print-ready PDF or vector file with fonts outlined and images at 300 dpi. Our prepress team checks every file before a proof is issued. The check that catches most files is type sitting too close to a crease, which is easier to move at layout than at proof.
Start with dimensions and quantity. If you already run something similar, a physical sample tells us more in a minute than a specification does in a page.
A dieline template follows, then a proof. For finish-led work we usually recommend a physical prototype at this point, because foil and soft-touch do not read accurately on screen.
Foil, soft-touch and deboss all read differently in person than on a screen, so we recommend a printed prototype rather than a digital proof alone for anything finish-led.
Sample costs are normally credited against the production order.

Specification, minimums and lead times for velvet bags.
A coarse pile can leave fine marks on soft metals. Specify a soft-pile velvet or a suede-effect lining if the pieces are polished silver or plated.
Because they are hand-assembled rather than machine-glued, and because the wrap, corner finish and interior lining are each separate operations. They also ship assembled rather than flat, which raises freight. The trade is a structure that feels substantially different in the hand.
Ones that read from arm’s length. Soft-touch lamination and deboss change how the whole pack reads; a small foil detail often does not survive the distance between shelf and eye. We quote each pass separately so you can judge.
On offset and flexo we hold the ink formulation, which gives a tight match run to run. Digital has a wider tolerance. If exact consistency across repeat runs matters more than short-run economics, we will quote the litho route.
It depends on the load, not the look. Twisted paper handles suit light contents; flat paper is stronger for the same cost; cotton rope carries the most and reads as the most premium. Above a few kilos the failure point is usually the bag tearing at the handle, so a reinforced top edge matters as much as the handle itself.
That is set by the paper weight and the top-edge reinforcement together rather than by the handle alone. Tell us the heaviest thing you will put in velvet bags and we will specify to it rather than to an average.
We issue a dieline template sized to your product, prepress checks your artwork against it, and a proof comes back for sign-off. Nothing runs until you approve that proof, and tote bags then take 3 to 5 business days.
Yes. Once a first run is approved we hold the board, structure, dimensions, print method and finishes against your account, so a reorder references the same specification exactly rather than being re-derived. That includes the ink formulation, which is what keeps a brand colour consistent between runs rather than drifting a shade each time.
Recycled grades are available across most of the substrates we run for tote bags. Recycled content, kerbside recyclability and certified compostability are three different claims though, so tell us which one you intend to print.
A print-ready PDF or a vector file, with fonts outlined and any raster images at 300 dpi at final size. We supply the dieline to design onto, and prepress checks bleed, safe area and crease clearance before issuing a proof. The dieline we supply carries the crease positions, so keeping type clear of a crease is easier to solve at layout than at proof.
A flat 100 units on any format. Most tote bags in this range are quoted from 100 units upward because unit cost falls sharply above that, but the minimum exists so you can validate a structure first.
3 to 5 business days after artwork approval, plus freight. Tote bag runs with applied finishes can take longer because each finish is a separate pass, and we confirm a firm date in writing with the quote.
